Monday Night Biking
 
Monday Night Biking: All rides begin at 6:00 but plan to arrive early to set up your bike and find people to ride with. Helmets are mandatory, as is the sign out/sign in policy with waiver. Our friends from Newington and other ski clubs join us on many of the rides, and you are welcome to bring others to join the group. Ride lengths vary and there is always a ride for even novice riders.   June 1 - Berlin, 25 Webster Square Rd., Suburban Sports, Anne Alden, 828-3378. For the ride out of Suburban Sports on June 1st, Cannondale will once again provide demo bikes for us to ride. Sign up early if you want to ride one and be sure to bring your pedals. Here's what's available Super Six 1: 48, 50, 52, 54, 56, 58, 60, 63. Six Carbon 1: 52, 54, 56, 58, 60. Synapse Carbon 3: 54, 56. Synapse Carbon 3 Feminine: 48 51. There will be some very attractive prices for MTL members if you are interested in purchasing a new Cannondale. Rte 9 South to exit 22, right off exit onto Mill St. right onto Webster Square Rd. Rte 9 North to exit 22, left off exit onto Frontage Rd, left onto Webster Square Rd. Short, medium, long and "macho" rides. Pizza follows. June 8 - Deane Young, 141 Center St., Manchester, 860-647-8884. Joint ride with MTL and NSC. Rte 384 east to exit 3. Bear right off the exit ramp and go straight on Main St., through downtown. At the top of the hill, left onto Center St. House is on right. Picnic follows, rain or shine. Bring a chair and a friend! June 15 - Bloomfield, Jim Mays memorial ride hosted by Neal Fisher. Joint ride with NSC, pizza follows. Rte 91 north to exit 35B, rte 218 west. Go through 3 lights, 3rd blinking, turn right onto Blue Hills Ave., rte 187. At 2nd light turn left on Park Ave., go past high school, cross RR tracks and turn into Northeast plaza on right. June 22 - Joint ride with Meriden, NSC, and MTL. Hosts, Dan and Debbie Roman, 166 Goodspeed Ave., Meriden, 203-237-1727. Rte. 91 to 691 west to exit 4, go left at the end of the ramp. Go to the first red light and take a right onto Spruce St. Go to the end and take a left onto Johnson Ave. Take the first right onto Goodspeed Ave. Follow the signs for parking at the house. Picnic follows, bring a chair and a bathing suit for the pool. June 29 - Joint ride with NSC hosted by George Lape, 860-693-1866. Talcott Plaza, Farmington, park in the back of the lot. Rte 84 east to exit 39. At light turn right onto Farmington Ave. At 4th traffic light turn left into Talcott Plaza. Pizza follows.

Remaining rides this season:

July 27 - Joe Colett, East Windsor, 860-623-8708. From Hartford, that 91 North to exit 44, right off exit, approximately one mile on right to East Windsor Junior/Senior High. From Enfield/Springfield take 91 South to exit 44, right off exit, same as above. Park in the back of the school. Pizza follows.

August 3 - Simsbury, Jean Leonard, 850-872-6740, cell phone 860-997-6740, pizza follows ride. From 91 North, take exit 37/route 305. Go west on route 395, then take a right on route 87, then take route 189 North into Tariffville, take a left onto route 315, then take a right onto route 10/202. Go .5 miles North on route 10/202 to the International Skating Rink on the left. Park in the back of the lot.

August 10 - Avon, Trish and Steve Molloy, 860-878-7527. Rt 84 to exit 39, Farmington Center, take a right onto route 10 North. Take a left at the first light onto Old Farms Rd. Meet at Fisher Meadows. Park on your right. Pizza follows.

August 17 - Bloomfield, Neal Fisher, 860-665-9653, repeat of the Jim Mays Memorial ride which was rained out. Rt 91 North to exit 35 B, Rt 218 West. Go through 3 lights, 3rd blinking, turn right on Blue Hills Ave/Rt 187. At 2nd light turn left on Park Ave., go past Bloomfield High School, cross RR tracks and turn into North East Plaza on right. Park in rear, far left; pizza follows ride.

August 24 - East Hartford, joint ride with NSC hosted by Clyde Proch and Scott Farrar, picnic follows, bring a chair. 91 South - East on 84, exit 58. Right to Silver Lane, left on Silver Lane to Forbes St, the next light after theatres. Right on Forbes,straight through 3 stop signs, go by the high school, 4th house on left after the 3rd stop sign, #990.
91 North - cross Putnam bridge to route 2 West, Main Street exit, right at light on Brewer Street, left on Forbes, 5th house, green cape on right.
84 West - exit 58, right on Roberts St. to Forbes, turn right at light on Forbes, go through light at Silver Lane and follow directions above.

August 31 - Southington, Ron Kapraszwski and Lisa Day, 860- 621-6382, joint ride with NSC and last official ride of the season. Bring a chair and bathing suit, pizza, salads, desert, beer and wine provided. 91 South to 691 West to exit 4. Take right on route 322, first right at light onto Meriden Ave. Take first right on Village Gate Drive, first house on left, #33. 84 West to route 691, same directions as above.
