Dear Member,
Time flies! A few diehards are still skiing up north but
more of us are logging miles on bikes and refining our golf
swings. Mt. Laurel is a club that is as active in the
summer as it is in the winter. Here's a snapshot of what to
expect in the weeks to come.

Kayaking
More
and more MTL members are discovering the joys of kayaking!
Join us for a presentation at the club meeting this Wednesday,
May 2nd. There will be a demo weekend put on by
North Cove Outfitters on May 5-6 and a
Bike/Kayak Demo/Buy/Swap Demo Day at YMCA Camp Sloper in
Southington on May 12th before Eila's party. Check

Appreciation dinner and Fashion Show - May 9th
Have
you purchased your ticket yet? Zabbara's provides their
facilities to us for free and we take this opportunity to
extend our thanks to them. See Penny Trick (or call
860-666-7885) or Pat Revoir at this Wednesday's meeting to
buy a ticket. $14. The same night you will be entertained
with a Fashion Show! In the past, our Fashion Shows had been
devoted exclusively to winter sports but you will be treated
to the latest apparel of springtime sports! |

CSC and Monday Night Race Awards - May 16
Mt.Laurel can be very proud of the efforts of the many fine
alpine racers who represent the club. Join us the 16th as we
recognize those who earned awards this past season. |

Annual Banquet - May 19
The
legendary Bobby Darling (you'll be treated to him twice this
month - he is performing at Eila's 70th birthday
party too!) will be performing and the deadline to buy
tickets is May 9th. Tickets can be purchased at the meetings
or by sending the money and the form to Carol Rowan. All
information is on the website or in the current newsletter.

Election Results
Elections were held on the 25th. Your incoming board is as
follows: Jonathan Houck - President, Kay Leatherman - Vice
President, Mandy Lavallee - Secretary, Treasurer - Eric
Ardolino, Asst. Secy/Trea. - Kathy Culhane. Newly elected
board members: Hank Berger, Chuck Hannah, Fred Murray.
Remaining on the board are Phil Palermo and Tom Knudsen. |

Eila
McCloskey asked that we send a huge thank you to the following
who contributed raffle prizes to aid her nephew who lost all
his possessions in a fire: Neal, Harry, Nancy, John, Lucille,
Charlotte, Charlie, Bobby, Barbara and Ernie. Thanks also to
those of you who helped sell the raffle tickets: Andy, Carol,
Barbara, Katie and Gary. The biggest THANK YOU goes to all of
you that purchased tickets. We were able to raise $652 in
cash and $405 in gift cards to Home Depot, Bob's Furniture,
and Wal-Mart. If you were unable to attend, I am still
accepting gift cards of any denomination for a store of your

Monday Night Biking!
Monday Night Biking has begun!
We had a great turnout for the season's first ride in Bristol.
Next Monday plan on joining us in New Hartford. Please note!
Joe and Angie's traditional Manchester ride has a new
starting point in South Windsor at Saint Francis of AssisiChurch.
Take Rt. 84
east to exit 62, Buckland Hills Mall, end of exit, take left.
3rd light, take left, Exxon station. Go 2 miles, left on Long
Hill Road. Right into back lot of church.

In addition, informal rides
are originating out of the parking lot of
Suburban Sports in Berlin on Thursday evenings at 6
p.m.
This is the same site where Annie Alden hosts her ride (May 21
this year).
Ray Ray Challenge VII has begun! The weather is
finally turning nice so get out and log those bike miles!

Sunday Hikes
New Hike Chairman, Rick Sullivan, has lined up a terrific series
of hikes this season and has posted the information in our
calendar.
