Dear Patrick,

The days are getting shorter.....

It's hard to believe how fast summer is flying by.  Before you know it, we'll be returning to the slopes.  This winter HAS to be better than the last. In the past couple of months, members have been busy with kayaking, biking, hiking, and golf.  Sharon and Jonathan hosted yet another terrific Summer BBQ in Cheshire.  And Stan and Marge put together a wonderful Bike Weekend in Vermont.  There's a LOT scheduled in the months to come.  Rooms at the Cape House for Cape Golf Weekend are all taken but you can stay at nearby motels.  Get in touch with Wendy Fitzsimons for more information. And don't forget the annual NYC Bus Trip on October 20th.  Contact Kate Robertson to make your reservation.  The complete schedule can be found in the calendar. This is Membership Renewal Time (see below).  In member news, Charlotte LeClair, Kathy Ciarlo, and Penny Trick are all recovering from knee surgeries and Kathy Culhane underwent back surgery on Tuesday. Good luck to Jeff Mead who is competing in the 2007 US Rowing Masters National Championships Aug 9-12 in Oak Ridge, TN.
Membership Renewal Time!!!!!

Renewal formMembership Chairperson Kay Leatherman reports that some members haven't sent in their membership renewals yet.  July 1 - Aug 31 is our official membership renewal time.  The application is in your July newsletter & available here.  Please get your renewal in as soon as possible, make sure we have your correct information & (very important) a current e-mail address.  Kay wants  to thank you all in advance for your prompt attention to the renewal process.   Avoid the late fee and get your renewal in now!  Please mail to the address listed on the application.

Lobster Roast

Lobster The Tradition Continues!  Always a popular event, the Lobster Roast signals the winding down of summer and gets us thinking about fall foliage and the ultimate return to the slopes.  Join us Sunday, September 16th at Winding Trails.  Don't forget to send in your reservation by September 10th.

Open House

Mark your calendars for September 19th when we schedule our annual Open House.  This is the best opportunity to attract new members to this extraordinary organization.   Make it a point to bring at least one potential member that night.  We'll have booths devoted to all our activities as well as representatives of resorts and area ski shops.  Don't miss it!  While we're on the subject of recruiting, remember to keep a supply of our business cards with you at all times.  The cards are in the process of being revised and reordered.

Vermont Hike Weekend

Castle CraigPlan on joining us at the lodge Sept 28-30 for Vermont Hike Weekend.  RIck Sullivan and Jean Delehanty have put together an event that looks to rival any we've done in the past.

Kayaking

Kayak-Joe In the past couple of years, there has been a tremendous surge of interest in kayaking among club members and a lot of the credit goes to Fred and Irene Murray and Joe Mangione and Angie Testa.  If you haven't tried this growing sport, now is the time.  Check out the scheduled events.  More are being added to the calendar so check back frequently.

Club Trips

Snowmass We have two attractive trips scheduled for 2008 - Aspen/Snowmass and Jay Peak.  Aspen has one hotel room left and Jay Peak has two   Get your reservations in ASAP.

Sincerely,

Biking!
animated biker
Biking is probably the most active pursuit of Mt. Laurel members each summer.  Our Monday Night Biking program spearheaded by Andy LeClair is in full swing.  A big thank you goes out to all those who have hosted rides and will do so in the future.  Last week Eileen Anderson hosted a new ride for the club.  We have three remaining rides this summer. Leading the Ray Ray Challenge are Gene Forte and Harriett Epstein  Can they be caught?
