The deadline for getting tickets to the Annual Banquet has passed. Details: The Annual Banquet will be taking place on Saturday, May 17 at the Wethersfield Country Club (same place as last year). Hors D'Oeuvres will be served starting at 6:30pm; dinner at 7:15pm. Since last year's food selection got rave reviews, we will be having the same menu: Chicken Picata, Baked Stuffed Shrimp with crabmeat stuffing and Prime Rib (a gluten free selection is included). The band this year will be 'Crisis', formerly 'Mid-Life Crisis.' The price, believe it or not, has been reduced to $35 per person and there will be a cash bar. Further info can be found on the flyer/registration form.  Anyone interested in donating a raffle item or making a basket, please contact Aletta Chamberland at (860) 747-3523.  Click for a map.

Our Forum has been revived!  We had to shut it down some time ago because the spammers had taken over it.  Hopefully enough safeguards are in place now to prevent that.  For the latest news on summer club activities such as hiking, kayaking, and golf visit the forum.  Register and share your own news.

Important:  An eBlast containing a link to the May Newsletter was sent out on Tuesday, May 6th.  If you did not receive it, send an email to webmaster@mtlski.com so you can be added to the distribution list.

Interested in a Golf Tournament?  The CT Senior Games will be holding their annual tournament at Goodwin Park on Friday, May 30th.  For only $55 you get 18 holes, a cart, use of the range, lunch, and the chance to win a medal within your age group!  If you're 50+ you qualify!  Deadline to register is May 19th.

Don't forget the kayak lesson scheduled for May 29th at Collinsville.   Kayak Demos and sales will take place at Crescent Lake in Southington on May 10th and 19th from 11 - 3. Lessons will also be available on June 10th at Crescent Lake.   Details in the calendar.  Interested in kayak rentals at Crescent Lake?

Who is this Mt. Laurel member?  It's week 38 of our contest to see if you can recognize members from their high school photos.   Guess the identity and submit your answer to webmaster@mtlski.com.   I won't reveal if you're right or not until the following Wednesdays' meeting. Who was the prior week?  To learn the true identity of earlier weeks click here.  Dig out those yearbooks and scan your photo.  If you don't have a scanner, take a digital picture of the photo (no flash!) or just photocopy it.  Snailmail or Email it to me. If you don't have the 12th grade photo, I guess we could accept back to 8th grade.  Earlier than that will just be too hard to recognize.  Photos will change each Wednesday.  Some are easier to recognize than others!

Your browser doesn't support this type of plug in!The 24th annual Lip Sync was held before a capacity crowd on Wednesday, April 23rd.  John Ewen entertained us as always with his jokes.  Neal Fisher handled the DJ duties and the lighting and performed. Thanks to Ron Scardacchi and Moe Gaherty for videoing the event. Videos should be available soon. The crowd was entertained by eight great acts.  Performers were Jason Frechette, Barbara Wysocki, Chuck Hannah, John Shea, Tina Oswald, Neal Fisher, Sharon Houck, Jonathan Houck, Penny Trick, Pat Moore, Annie Alden, Kay Leatherman, Irene Murray, Ellen Gilbert, Betsy Chase,  Milli Arnold, and Aletta Chamberland.  Does anyone have any digital photos they can share so we can post them online? Email me.  The shots to the left were stills captured from the video. Update - Dennis Burns has just submitted a number of photos and they are now in the online album. Some of the acts can now be viewed on YouTube.com  DVDs of the performance will be on sale at the annual banquet.  Please email me in advance at webmaster@mtlski.com  if you'd like to order one so I can get an idea of how many to prepare.  Cost will be $10 and proceeds will go to the Lodge Fund.

Eila McCloskey celebrated the 32nd anniversary of her 39th birthday at the Gouvea Winery on May 3rd.  Nancy Nolan took this cool shot of one of the winery's products.

How did the rest of our racers do?  Check out the overall individual results.  Corrections to an earlier calculation were done on 4/27.  Changes are marked in red.

MTL Elections were held and the existing officers all remained in their posts.  Elected to the board were Irene Murray and Rick Sullivan.

(Personal note from your webmaster Pat Moore):  I recently returned from Steamboat and the NASTAR National Championships and I'm happy to report that history was made.  For the first time a racer is National Champion in more than one category.  I won the Men's 60-64 Snowboard title and followed it up with the Men's 60-64 Gold Division Skiing title.   While out there I maintained an online diary.  Plan on joining me at the Nationals next year!  Update:  Ski Racing Magazine made note of the achievement.
